BigNews.Biz - Nov 19,2009 - HOLLYWOOD BLVD, a massive 60-foot Christmas tree arrived on Hollywood Boulevard for Santa’s Home in Hollywood – L. Ron Hubbard’s Winter Wonderland, in preparation for the eagerly awaited opening of the 26th anniversary of the Wintry Display in Hollywood that has entertained hundreds of thousands, year after year since 1983.
This years towering 60ft Douglas Fir was planted the same year Winter Wonderland first started in 1983 and had traffic stopped traffic on Hollywood Boulevard at high noon as it was raised by a 66,000 pound crane to set the Christmassy scene at L. Ron Hubbard’s Winter Wonderland after its 900 mile journey from Portland, Oregon.
Winter Wonderland, Santa's Hollywood home, is a yearly tradition that started in 1983 when best-selling author and humanitarian, L. Ron Hubbard first presented the city with this gift that hundreds of thousands of Angelenos and tourists have enjoyed for over two-and-a-half decades. This gift continues through the generosity of the "Friends of L. Ron Hubbard" and the many parishioners of the Church of Scientology.
The classic wintry setting with its magical candy-cane Santa’s house surrounded by a forest of 52 evergreens displays Mr. Hubbard’s holiday message: "On the day we can fully trust each other there will be peace on Earth," beneath a newly created 80-foot backdrop of the snow-covered Hollywood Hills.
Santa will be arriving to Winter Wonderland on 29th November, the night of the Hollywood Christmas Parade and will be available for photographs on the night of the Parade and throughout the month of December, where visitors will also see live music performances, dancing, an array of entertainment and much, much more all in the spirit of creating the Christmas sprit for the Hollywood community. All activities are free.
All are welcome to come and tell Santa their holiday wishes and guests are free to bring their cameras – all activities are free. Opening times are Mon-Fri 5pm – 10pm and Sat & Sun 2pm – 10pm.
