The Nassau Conference ll football final between the Garden City Trojans and the Wantagh Warriors was played on Friday evening, November 20th at Hofstra's Shuart Stadium. It took until the second half for points to get on the board and that happened when GC's Brian Fischer scored on a 30-yard run with 9:56 left in the third quarter. The Trojans took a 7-0 lead after Topher DiBona hit the extra point. Stephen Jahelka added a 2-yard run with 5:42 left in the third to put the Trojans up 14-0 after the extra point. That was all the Trojans would need as they went on to win the game and advance to the Long Island final against North Babylon who defeated East Islip 17-10. . Fischer had 15 carries for 108 yards and Jahelka carried 15 times for 90 yards and a TD. The Trojans defense limited Wantagh to 35 yards rushing. Garden City's defense, which has been impenetrable all season, held Wantagh to 3 first-half rushing yards on eight plays. On Wantagh's first play of the second half, Tom Gordon had and8-yard sack on Wantagh's Kyle Ambury. On the second drive, Billy Sweeney made a big sack on third down.
