By recognizing the importance of computers in biomedical research which led to the foundation of BIOKICS. BIOKICS is known for its experience in creating and maintaining biomedical databases, because of its experience BIOKICS could establish an intramural research program in bioinformatics. By collective research components of BIOKICS might make up the largest bioinformatics research facility in the world. By recognizing the importance of KNOWLEDGE, INFORMATION & COMMUNICATION in biomedical research also led the foundation stone for BIOKICS (BIO-KNOWLEDGE INFORMATION & COMMUNICATION SEARCH) where the general search of the basic bioinformatics information is done and the information can also be shared.
Research@KICS
Being as a source for molecular biology information, BIOKICS mission is to develop new technologies which aid for understanding the fundamental molecular genetic process that control health and disease. Specifically BIOKICS has been charged with creating automated systems for storing and analyzing knowledge about molecular biology, biochemistry, and genetics; facilitating the use of such databases and software by the research and medical community; coordinating efforts to gather biotechnology information both nationally and internationally; and performing research in advanced methods of computer-based information processing for analyzing the structure and function of biologically important molecules.
Responsibilities@KICS
• Research on fundamental biomedical problems at molecular level is conducted using mathematical algorithms and computational methods.
• Maintains collaboration with several institutes, academics, industry and other agencies.
• Scientific communication by sponsoring meetings, workshops and lectures.
• Training on basic and applied research in computational biology is supported @ BIOKICS.
• Members of the international scientific community are engaged for informatics research and training through Visitor Scientist Program.
• Develops, contributes, and supports access to versatile databases and software for biomedical sources.
• Develops and promotes standards for databases, data deposition and exchange biological cultures.
